Hi Kris,

This is not going to be straightforward to answer!! So ok, you can have
your server outside your company premises, but you need to consider how
Exchange will talk to AD? What size is the link between your users and your
server? What about redundancy? How far away will the Exchange server be
from your users?

I highly recommend that you read the following:

I hope this helps you!

better if internal bcoz of following reasons
1. by having external, u are putting great traffic on ur wan link which may
affect ur internet speed.

2. if ur AD is managed by u it will take great time for authentication.
first ur machines will send request to exchange then it will ask u for
credentials and after that it will again come to ur AD to get them
authenticated.

3. moreover internal exchange servers will be more secure

4. the most important is the quick repair of xchange if it gets down and i
think you will be able to troubleshoot it faster and better inside ur campus
